Our History
We are the voice of independent, family-owned wineries, advocating for fair access to markets, freedom from overregulation, and the pursuit of winemaking excellence.
Since 1990, Family Winemakers has championed the rights of small producers, driving impactful legislation and legal victories—like the landmark Granholm v. Heald Supreme Court case that opened direct-to-consumer wine sales across the U.S.
With a “one person, one vote” philosophy, we ensure every member's voice is heard on issues that shape the wine industry. For over 35 years, we’ve worked tirelessly to break down barriers and expand opportunities for small wineries.
